There is a buzz occurring again over at Wilson High School. The Presidents girls basketball team may be one of those teams to challenge in the east region led by senior guard, Jo Niquia Guilford.

Talk about deja’ vu!  She just happens to wear number 23; the same number current ODU Lady Monarch guard and President, T.J. Jordan once wore.  Guilford will also be spending her college years at Old Dominion. 

“I hear that a lot of that”, she says. “You’re going to ODU.” 

In case you’re wondering, the team itself is being compared to the one led by Jordan and her former teammate, Khadijah Whittington, now at North Carolina State.  They went to the state finals. 

Presidents head coach, Roger Smith thinks this squad led by Guilford has more depth, but they had one thing in common, talented guards. 

“They’re a couple of great kids”, he says.  “They helped put Wilson on the map.” 

Guilford also wants to add a possible state title to the mix.
