PLAYER OF THE WEEKMarlena Wesh, Landstown High School07:18 PM EDT on Monday, May 5, 2008
Landstown's track program has quickly made a name for itself. One of those leading the way is sprinter, Marlena Wesh. The junior used a spectacular indoor season as a springboard into the outdoor season. She was the state champ in the 55 and 300 meters. Her 300 time of 39.41 ranked third fastest nationally. That's helped her and the Eagles into the outdoors since they won the indoor state title. Wesh has teamed up with the likes of fellow sprinter, Cierra McGee in the relays and want to add an outdoor title to their resume. At the recent Penn Relays from Philadelphia, the Eagles finished with an impressive 4th place in the 4x400 relays. Wesh feels they can do better and that there's more that they can do as a team. With her raw speed, the sky is the limit for her and the Eagles. |
