PLAYER OF THE WEEKMarcus Davis, Ocean Lakes High SchoolMarcus Davis was supposed to be the star wide receiver / running back at Ocean Lakes this year. However in summer practice, the Dolphins' starting quarterback went down. Add another slash to Davis' resume. He's now a wr/rb/QB. Davis, who is a highly sought-after college recruit at both defensive back and wide receiver, had taken some snaps behind center as a freshman before moving to receiver while seeing some time at quarterback in his sophomore and junior seasons. But when Dan Pitts suffered a season ending knee injury, Davis returned as full time signalcaller for the Dolphins. Davis made a splash in his season debut right from the start, connecting with Randall Dunn on a pair of scoring strikes including a 54-yarder. Davis' first TD run came from 36 yards early in the second quarter as the Dolphins scored on its first four possessions of the game to open up the season on a winning note, beating Princess Anne soundly 41-9. In all, Davis threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more. On 8 rushes he totaled 146 yards while throwing for another 100 yards, and no turnovers. Those stellar numbers earn Marcus Davis our first athlete of the week honor. |
