PLAYER OF THE WEEKPhillip Sims, Oscar Smith10:39 PM EST on Tuesday, December 4, 2007The numbers were just staggering. On his way to being our HS Gametime Athlete of the Week, Phillip Sims shattered the state record for passing yards in a game. Sadly his Oscar Smith Tigers are done for the year after losing in the state semi-finals. However, when it comes to individual effort, the 15-year-old sophomore quarterback was unmatched. He threw for three touchdowns on the day. He completed 26 of 49 passes for 470 yards. We should make him share the award with his receiver Todd Harrelson who also broke the record book. He had 15 catches on the day. The old state record was a mere 10. He also amazingly now holds the state record for yards receiving in a game with 359. |
