PLAYER OF THE WEEKKayla White, Ocean Lakes08:49 AM EDT on Thursday, April 30, 2009Kayla White is one of the main reasons the Ocean Lakes girls soccer team has aspirations byond the Beach District this season. The junior has the ability to take matters into her own hands, but prefers spreading the wealth. "I'm more team oriented", she says. "I'm not going to try and shoot and score all the time. I'd prefer to cross the ball and get it to that person." To be so good, the Dolphins are also a relatively young squad, so having White in the mix really helps them grow as a team. So far, they've gotten off to good start (7-3-2, 5-1 in district) despite a recent loss to unbeaten Cox, but White seems to think her team can only get better. "We're very friendly," she says. Head Coach, Christine Thornton thinks White is the kind of player that sticks out in a crowd. "Alot of it is her speed", she says. White's speed and knowledge will make the difference as the Dolphins try to make their own mark.
