Five years ago when Ray Dayton came to Cape Henry to be its boys tennis coach from Northern Virginia, he had a mission statement. 

"I was about growing the complete player", he says.  Dayton was not just about winning and losing, but understanding the subtle nuances of the game and help his players become better people. 

He's done that and the Dolphins are among the teams to be in the TCIS.

With the likes of freshman, Tanner Baine leading the way, Dayton has a nucleus of young talent that can be considered among the best in the state. 

"That theory of growing the whole player, a boy's character.  These guys are young adults." 

Dayton understands that during the course of a match, his players can also learn life lessons while playing the game.
