Darren Sanderlin ultimately won a state title in basketball for his alma mater in Booker T. Washington High School. What do they have in common? Former pro athletes providing their levels of professional experience to high school athletes. Frank Sink has done the same for golf at Cape Henry. In just his first year with the Dolphins, Sink has them near the top of the TCIS after many picked them to be middle of the pack material. “It was good bulletin board information”, he says. Sink brings a wealth of knowledge to the game. He was for time touring as a pro for a couple of years and now is the club pro at Hell’s Point Golf Course in Virginia Beach the past seven years. “The great thing about this is that normally a guy would pay me for a lesson and I might see him six weeks or six months later, and with these guys, I’m getting the chance to work with them everyday.” He seeing results not only from his veteran players, but surprisingly from the younger players. Sink feels his players learn more than about the game of golf, but as he puts it “lessons in perseverance.” |
