Brandon Irwin scored 23 points and defending champion Thorndale rolled to a 60-36 win over White Deer in the Class 1A Division I state semifinals.

Irwin, the lone returning starter from Thorndale's 2007 state championship squad, made three 3-pointers in the first quarter and had 15 points as Bulldogs led 36-15 at halftime Thursday. Thorndale built the lead as high as 30 points in the third quarter.

Parker Perry scored 17 points to lead White Deer (21-8), which made the state tournament for the first time since 1962. Cameron Swarb, White Deer's leading scorer this season, played with his right hand and wrist wrapped in a bandage. He took only two shots the entire game and didn't score.

Ryan Heine added 11 points for Thorndale (35-1), whose only loss this season was to a Class 4A team.
