Brandon Irwin scored 19 points, nine in the fourth quarter, to lead defending champion Thorndale to a 53-42 win over Dallardsville Big Sandy for the Class 1A Division I championship.

Corey Schneider added 18 points Saturday, hitting four 3-pointers, for Thorndale (36-1), whose only loss this season was to a Class 4A opponent.

Corey Tolar scored 14 points to lead Big Sandy (27-11), which made its first state tournament in 20 years.
