Westlake has always been the 5A power in the Austin area, but they have state runner-up Pflugerville to deal with in 25-5A.

The Panthers move into the 25-5A district, along with Connally, and will shake things up in the race for the playoffs.

George Herrmann has DE Alex Okafor and a great defense, but have lost most of their offense. Connally moves up from 4A, but will contend for a playoff spot.

Westlake has Ryan Swope to build the offense around, along with Jeff Ballew and Tanner Price.

Austin High was a playoff team last year and has Emory Blake back for his senior year. Bowie quarterback Matt Dodds and the Bulldogs hope to continue their good fortune in district play.

Anderson continues to rebuild with second year coach Mark Reiland, with PJ Henderson leading the way. Bastrop has a new coach in Gerald Perry with lots of returning lettermen, but a tougher district schedule. Akins had trouble in district play a year ago but returns most starters in 2008.
