Lake Travis is still the team to beat in 4A, but Garrett Gilbert and the Cavaliers have a new coach leading the charge. Chad Morris comes to town and has to worry about a new district with some tough opponents in 25-4A.

Killeen was not a playoff team a year ago, but return a good portion of their defense. Dripping Springs and Hutto had off years in 2007, but look ready to rebound with players like Devin Carter of the Hippos.

Marble Falls had a winning record in 2007, but missed out on the playoffs. Hendrickson has had a late coaching change that may affect their play. And Lampasas looks to avenge a winless 2007.

17-4A is a revamped district with Hays leading the way. Bob Shelton has ten starters back for another season with the Rebels, and they should be favorites to win the title. Manor was a playoff team a year ago, but have a new coach and some young stars. Lockhart, Lehman, Elgin, and Del Valle didn't make the playoffs in their districts last year, but one will this time around, with half of the six team district going to the playoffs.
