TOP STORIESSchroeder quits in Bastrop03:15 PM CST on Thursday, November 15, 2007Legendary football coach Ron Schroeder has turned in his resignation to the Bastrop Independent School District.
Schroeder only spent one year on the job in Bastrop, finishing with a 1-9 record. But he told KVUE's Mike Barnes that the losing record had nothing to do with him leaving. He says his deal was contingent on him selling his house in Southwest Travis County, which he's been unable to do. Schroeder commuted to Bastrop for the 2007 season, but he and his wife decided he couldn't do that anymore.
"I feel it is best for the school district, myself and my family that I resign as Head Football Coach/Teacher ar Bastrop High School," said Schroeder in the BISD press release.
Schroeder gained notoriety during his tenure with Westlake, which included a state championship in 1996. |
