Garrett Gilbert tossed 3 touchdown passes and finished with 36 yards through the air as Lake Travis beat Highland Park 36-34 in the Class 4A division 2 championship game Saturday in Waco. Jason Bird caught one of the touchdown passes to cap his fantastic senior season at Lake Travis.

Meanwhile, Pflugerville's bid for a first ever state championship ended in the title game. The Panthers led Katy 7-0 until late in the 2nd quarter. A Hail Mary pass was caught by Brian Rowe of the Tigers in the endzone. That tied the game and turned the tide.

Katy scored 28 unanswered points to win 28-7. It is the Tigers' 5th state title.
