Kelly Murphy selected for scholarship

PHOENIX - The Grand Prize winner in the M& I Bank Skylights Scholar Award for Student Athletes is Kelly R Murphy of Mountain Ridge High School. A senior with a 4.67 weighted GPA Murphy plays volleyball and basketball.

She hopes to attend University of Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins University or the University of Arizona.

In addition to being a standout athlete, Murphy is the student body president, the National Honors Society vice president and a sports minute broadcaster.

She is also involved in her community with the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Commission, hospital volunteering and various food drives.

Her mother is one of the most significant influences in her life and what drew her to play sports was the challenge it provides.

Murphy wins the $5,000 grand prize M & I Bank scholarship.
