"We want to live up to everyone's expectations and that's going to be tough and a lot of pressure," senior guard Amanda Martin said. Pressure doesn't even begin to describe what these girls are feeling as they make their run to the Division 1-A title. Every practice the Lady Knights look up at the championship banners on the field house wall hoping their team will add one more. "We've been wanting this for a long time and this is the first year that we actually have been able to progress so far and a lot of peoples names are up on banners over there and my name isn't up there yet so it would mean a lot if we won state," senior guard Abby Young. Coach Janet Oitzman said her team's unity has been the key to such a successful season. She said for the first time they have senior leadership helping encourage their one game at a time attitude. "It's just going to be a game by game basis and just putting it all together, everything we've worked hard at all season long," Oitzman said. After loosing in the regional playoffs last season, the Knights all agree that won't be happening this year. "Our game plan is to be in the final round of the state tournament," Oitzman said. The Knights play in the regional semi-finals tomorrow night on their home court. |
