Stephon Gilmore MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- South Pointe star quarterback Stephon Gilmore was picked as South Carolina's Mr. Football. The award was given Friday night and goes to the top senior football player in the state. Gilmore certainly qualifies. He led South Pointe to a 15-0 mark and the Class 4A Division II state championship with a 35-14 victory over Northwestern last week. Gilmore completed 112 of 178 passes for 1,771 yards and 14 TDs. He also ran for 1,331 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was picked over seven finalists. Gilmore is scheduled to play in next week's Shrine Bowl game that pits the top South Carolina seniors against a team from North Carolina. Gilmore is pledged to South Carolina and plans to enroll in January. |
