About Westerberg: Westerberg led Allen to its first state title, the Class 5A Division I championship. He did it with a team that wasn't as dominating as last season's but found ways to win. In 2007, Allen rolled to a 10-0 regular season only to be upset by Rowlett in the first round. Westerberg helped the team regain its footing, and Allen overcame a nondistrict loss to Euless Trinity to go undefeated in one of the state's toughest districts. In the playoffs, Allen avenged that Trinity loss, overcame an injury to QB Matt Brown and staged comeback wins in the state semifinals and final.

Did you know? Westerberg was offensive coordinator on Garland's 1999 5A Division II state championship team.
