At state: 4A 100 champion (11.16); part of 4A-record victories in 4x100 (45.17) and 4x200 (1:36.17) relays About Jordan: Her run in the 100 met the Olympic B standard and was just shy of the A standard (11.13). Did you know? She started running at age 9 and saw her talent skyrocket in 2003. "I was faster than I ever thought I would be at a young age."
Teegan Hill

At state: Second in 4A 400 (54.57); part of 4A-record 4x400 (3:40.41) relay; part of 2nd-place 4x100 (46.26) About Hill: Will compete at Junior Outdoor meet in Columbus, Ohio, next month. At state: Third in 4A 100 hurdles (13.71) About Blackburn: Middle blocker on volleyball team. "It's stress- relieving." Did you know? "When I was younger, I had a bad injury, and the doctors didn't know how to tend to my knee, so I want to be a sports doctor for children."
Donique' Flemings
SAGINAW, JR.
At state: 4A 300 hurdles champion (state-record 40.96); first in 100 hurdles (13.52); second- place 4x400 relay (3:47.83) About Flemings: Started track at age 9, won the 200 hurdles at the AAU Junior Olympics at 13. Did you know? Her cousin, Saginaw junior Destiny Lumas, is also one of the state's top hurdlers. "We push each other in whatever we do, and we do it together."
Stephanie Ganter

At state: Third in 4A 1,600 (5:04.69); 2nd in 3,200 (11:06.52) About Ganter: Qualified for state cross country meet all four years but made first appearance at state track meet. Signed with Stephen F. Austin. Did you know? Pre-race ritual: "I eat pasta the night before and then three hours before my meet, I eat a Nature Valley bar, maybe a banana, but that's it."

At state: Won 3A 800 (2:14.92); second in 1,600 (4:54.36) in breaking 3A record About Krueger: This was Krueger's first year competing in the 800. Signed with Georgia. Did you know? "I always think of myself as more of a miler, so to win the 800 was a nice surprise."
Emily Atkins
CRANDALL, SO.
At state: Won 3A shot put (43-0 ¼ ). About Atkins: Said she "wasn't really great" at shot put when she started it in seventh grade, but assistant coach Rich Hamsher has been instrumental in her development. Did you know? "I can burp really loud."
Zaquita McClanahan

At state: Third in 5A shot put (45-10 ¼ ) About McClanahan: Made first state appearance. Maintains a 3.8 GPA. Did you know? Plans to join debate team in fall. "I'm trying to be a corporate lawyer, and I need that experience to go where I need to go."
Brigetta Barrett

At state: 5A champion in high jump (5-10) About Barrett: Started high jump in eighth grade, got serious in ninth grade and won state title in New York as a sophomore. Did you know? "I believe everybody is born with the ability to sing. They just have to grow on that talent as a young person."

At state: Second in 4A long jump (19-10); second in triple jump (40-0) About Gipson: Long jump mark at state was a personal-best and area-best. Was 15-4A MVP in basketball. Signed with TCU. Did you know? Enjoys taking pictures and scrapbooking. "I'm very creative."
Alexius Hightower
ARLINGTON SAM HOUSTON, SO.
At state: Second in 5A triple jump (40-11 ½ ); third in long jump (18-10 ¾ ). About Hightower: Two-time district champion in long and triple jump. Her triple jump at state is ranked ninth in nation. Did you know? She's a fan of Soulja Boy. "I have to listen to that to get me pumped up."
Shade Weygandt
MANSFIELD, JR.
At state: Won third straight state title in 5A pole vault (13-0) About Weygandt: Cleared 13-0 or better in all but one meet this season. Owns best outdoor vault mark in Texas at 13-10. Set state meet record (13-7) in 2007. Did you know? "I like going to country music concerts."
