What she did: Smith drove in eight runs in four games. She went 9-for-13 with two doubles, one triple and two home runs, including a grand slam. Her hitting helped Bishop Lynch (22-10, 9-1) move into a first-place tie with Fort Worth Nolan in TAPPS 1-6A. Lynch beat Nolan, Bishop Dunne and Ursuline but lost to South Grand Prairie in a nondistrict game.

The stats: Smith is batting .587 (64-for-109) with 17 doubles, eight triples, 10 home runs and 32 RBIs.

Who is she? Smith is a senior second baseman. She was selected to the all-state TAPPS 6A team and was District 1-6A's MVP last season.

She said it: "This week, we played almost every day, including three district must-win games. It was good to see the team play well and cheer each other."
