Waxahachie lost Game 1, but Junkin went 6-for-7 and scored six runs and had four RBIs in the final two games of the series to help the state's fifth-ranked 4A team advance to face sixth-ranked Highland Park. Junkin hit ninth in the order in Game 3 and went 3-for-3, scored three runs and had one RBI and two stolen bases in a 20-1 win. The stats: Junkin is hitting .373 with 17 RBIs and 24 stolen bases, and he has scored 34 runs. Who is he? A senior outfielder. He said it: "I liked [batting ninth]. I got lots of fastballs down there because I guess they thought I couldn't hit." Coach said it: "He was hitting two-hole for us, and we moved him down to the bottom of the order to get him on in front of our leadoff guy. He's a great weapon for us. He's a second leadoff guy.
