Justin Scharf

What he did: In a one-game playoff, Scharf pitched McKinney North to a 2-1 victory over Hallsville. The righthander didn't record a strikeout until the seventh inning, but he confused Hallsville's hitters with his sidearm delivery and relied on his defense for a complete-game victory in the Class 4A regional semifinals.

The stats: Scharf earned a complete-game victory over Bryan Adams earlier in the regional quarterfinals. He's 8-4 overall and has allowed just three runs in three playoff appearances.

Who is he: A 6-1, 170-pound senior pitcher.

Did you know? Scharf used a conventional delivery until two years ago when his coaches asked him to try a submarine motion, and he developed into one of the team's top pitchers.
