It was Boyd's first playoff game in school history. The stats: Of his 30 carries, 11 gained first downs. He also completed his only pass for 15 yards and a first down. Who he is: A 5-7, 155-pound sophomore quarterback. He said it: "The blocking was opening up holes the whole game. All I had to do was take one guy and everybody else – the receivers, the backs and the line – did everything else." Coach said it: "His performance was exceptional but also pretty typical. He's been making those types of plays all throughout the season. He's just a tough competitor and he showed that again Friday in the playoff game." – Don Drake Did you know? Alves turned 16 Sunday. ...He plays center field and pitcher for the Boyd baseball team. ...He moved to Texas from Modesto, Calif., as a sixth grader. ...His older sister, Dominique, recently graduated from McKinney, and his younger brother, Nick, is 2-years-old. Alves said he's teaching his baby brother some football moves. "I'm trying to, but he's still in that stage where he loves the band."
