Hand was the tournament's MVP. In the championship game against Lubbock Coronado, she scored 41 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a 64-48 victory. The stats: Hand, a 6-1 forward, is averaging 26.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 4.0 steals and 1.6 blocks per game. Who is she? Hand, an Oklahoma signee, is a four-year varsity player who led Liberty Christian to the TAPPS 5A state title as a junior. She is rated No. 14 in the Class of 2008 by SLAM Online. She said it: On scoring 29 points in the first half Saturday against Coronado: "We were all exhausted before the championship game, and so we rubbed this medicine on my knee. It was burning the fire out of my knee, and I really didn't know what was going on in the first half. But my teammates were cool and they were so encouraging." Coach said it: "She's spent many hours in the gym shooting the basketball, so when she puts up a shot and makes something – even an NBA three – that doesn't amaze me because I've watched her do it before practice, after practice, during practice.
