DeSoto athlete Adrian Bushell has lived in Texas and Florida, so a college in either state would have suited him fine.
But the chance to play right away is what sold him on orally committing to Florida. Bushell made his decision public Tuesday night.
"The biggest thing for me was to play early," said Bushell, No. 8 on SportsDay's Area Top 100.
Bushell (5-11, 180) was born in Dallas but went to high school in Miami before transferring back to DeSoto for his senior season. He picked Florida over Miami (Fla.), Michigan and Oklahoma State.
Briefly: SMU picked up commitments from Sugar Land Kempner safety Chris Banjo (5-11, 190) and Oxford (Miss.) inside linebacker Zach Line (6-1, 210). ... Hurst L.D. Bell offensive lineman Ken Van Huele (6-4, 275) committed to Houston. Signing day is Feb. 6.
