The score was tied, 24-24, in the third quarter before Marcus (17-12, 6-1) closed the game with a 32-13 run. Short made three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help Marcus pull away and avenge a 57-43 loss to Hebron on Jan. 12. Hebron (22-7, 6-1) entered the game allowing an average of 41.5 points per game in district play. Duncanville stays hot The Duncanville girls routed Grand Prairie, 69-13, and have won by an average of 34.1 points during their seven-game winning streak. Duncanville (19-10, 8-1 District 7-5A), the state's 18th-ranked 5A team, has beaten Cedar Hill, currently ranked 11th, and No. 5 Irving MacArthur during the winning streak. Late heroics Glenn Till made a layup with two seconds left to give the Richardson Berkner boys a 54-53 win over Carrollton Creekview. The loss knocked Creekview out of a tie for first in District 9-5A. ... Xavier Tarrant made a shot as time expired to give the Ennis boys a 56-55 win over Waxahachie. Boys Chris Bowie, Richardson Pearce, guard: Made a jumper at the buzzer to give Pearce a 38-36 win over Rockwall. David Kates, Kimball, guard: Had 22 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as the state's 20th-ranked 4A team defeated North Dallas, 96-46. Phil Pressey, Episcopal School of Dallas, guard: Had 28 points and eight assists as ESD, the state's top-ranked large private school, beat Austin St. Stephen's, 70-58. Randall Taylor, South Garland, guard: Made a layup with four seconds left to give South Garland an 82-80 victory over Garland Lakeview. Tyandre' Freeman scored 27 for South Garland, which trailed by 16 with 4 ½ minutes left. James Thomas, Irving, forward: Scored 31 points in a 90-47 win over Irving Nimitz. Girls Peyton Adamson, Rockwall, guard: Scored 37 points as Rockwall (21-9, 11-0 District 10-4A), the state's 11th-ranked 4A team, beat Richardson Pearce, 74-48. Katie Brakner, Frisco Centennial, post: Had 30 points and 12 rebounds in a 64-59 victory over Frisco Liberty. J'Tierra Brown, West Mesquite, guard: Scored 24 points as West Mesquite clinched the District 15-4A title with an 87-56 win over Red Oak. BreAnna Dawkins, Cedar Hill, guard: Scored 25 points to help Cedar Hill beat South Grand Prairie, 68-55, and remain tied for first with Duncanville in District 7-5A. Alexa Hardick, Bishop Lynch, guard: Scored a game-high 23 points as Bishop Lynch, ranked No. 2 in the state among large private schools, beat sixth-ranked Fort Worth Nolan, 47-39. 8: Steals by Arlington Seguin's Recca Trice as the state's top-ranked 4A girls team beat Granbury, 39-30. 8: Three-pointers made in the first half by the Cedar Hill boys in an 88-56 win over South Grand Prairie. 16: Rebounds by Ennis' Emily Rejcek in a 68-63 win over Waxahachie. She also had 22 points. Boys Roger Franklin, Duncanville: The Oklahoma State signee scored 28 points to lead the state's fifth-ranked 5A team to a 95-35 victory over Grand Prairie. Texas signee Shawn Williams added 26 points for Duncanville. Girls Jasmine Godbolt, Garland Naaman Forest: The North Texas signee had 17 points and 11 rebounds to help Naaman Forest (24-5, 9-0 District 10-5A), the state's 12th-ranked 5A team, beat Rowlett, 75-46. |
