Update: The 6-2 senior averaged 13.7 points and 6.6 assists for Alabama State, which won the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament and made the NCAA Tournament. Brooks, the SWAC player of the year, had 10 points Tuesday in a loss to Morehead State in the play-in game. Entering the week, Brooks ranked sixth in Division I in assists.
