She steps in stride before releasing a 15-pound, high-performance ball toward the pins. Eldredge heads into the Texas High School Bowling Club state tournament this weekend among the top 10 bowlers in the state, with a 203 average. "She's a very consistent bowler with a beautiful form and a beautiful release when she lets go of the ball," Plano West coach Debbie Galloway said. Eldredge has reached the state tournament each of her three years of high school, making the quarterfinals as a freshman. She'll compete in singles as well as for the West team, which placed fourth at the Region IV tournament. "She's fun to coach because she's very good at it," Galloway added.
Lewisville boys return to state with experience
Lewisville's boys reached the state tournament in 2007, their first year as a club. They finished 30th of 41 teams. Lewisville learned from that experience. It returns to state with momentum after placing first at the Region II tournament. "They know how to do it this year, because they've already been there once," coach Dawn Chegwidden said. "They know what they have to do. They got first place at regionals and kept hold of it." Freshman Peyton Pruett, who will also compete in the singles competition, enters state with a 207 average. Lewisville is rounded out by four seniors: Brad Hawkins, David Acevedo, Al Kyser and Clay Farris.
