Arlington (24-2-1) provided good pressure in the first half with its 40-goal scorer Rogelio Funes, a junior forward. Carroll (22-3-3) made some defensive adjustments and prevented Funes from being a factor in the second half. Adamson 1, Conrad 0: Junior forward Jose Rubio scored on a header in overtime, lifting Adamson (13-5-2) to a 4A Region II quarterfinal victory at Sprague Stadium. Conrad finished with a 16-5-1 record. The Colony 3, McKinney 2 (shootout): In Hebron, Rojo Montanez scored what turned out to be the decisive goal to win an eight-round shootout. McKinney's shot at extending the Class 4A Region II quarterfinal sailed wide. Plano 7, Skyline 0: In Mesquite, juniors Dillon Powers and Matt Fry had a pair of goals and Michael Darrow had a goal and two assists to lead Plano (18-7-1) in a 5A Region II area playoff. Flower Mound Marcus 4, Arl. Sam Houston 1: In Flower Mound, senior Randy Wright's 6-yard header off a corner kick by senior Eric Frazier 30 seconds into the second half set the tone for Marcus (20-3-3) in a 5A Region I area playoff. Plano East 3, W.T. White 2: In Coppell, Nick Amy scored on a header with 12:36 remaining for the winning goal in a 5A Region II area playoff. Jesuit 3, Keller Central 2: In Lewisville, junior Alexei Reyes scored on a 12-yard shot with 70 seconds remaining to lift Jesuit (22-1-0) in a 5A Region I area playoff. Ian Kalis, a senior, assisted the game-winner. Rowlett 2, Tyler Lee 1: In Tyler, Brian Medlin and Preston Volz had goals to lead Rowlett in a 5A Region II area playoff. Denton Guyer 1, Keller Fossil Ridge 0: In Justin, Drew Chenault scored the only goal of the match in a 4A Region I quarterfinal. |
