Colleyville Heritage freshman Alyssa Nielson enters the 5A meet seeded sixth after her victory over eighth-seeded Tara Upshaw of Southlake Carroll in the Region I meet. But it'll be a tall task for the 5A competitors to keep pace with The Woodlands' Sarah Andrews, who posted her best run of the season (4:58.89) at the Region II meet and has the only 5A qualifying time of less than 5 minutes.

Argyle's Kristie Krueger, the defending 3A champion, owns the state's No. 2 time at 4:57.75, which she posted at the Region I meet. Iowa Park's Kelsey Johnson is seeded first after running 4:55.85 at the regional.

In 4A, McKinney North's Stephanie Ganter is seeded third (5:08.75), and Frisco's Kerri Matulis is fourth (5:12.54).
