Duncanville junior Brigetta Barrett arrived in North Texas last summer and has made an instant splash.

The former New York state resident enters the meet seeded second (5-10) in 5A behind the reigning champion and national leader, Midland's Victoria Lucas (6-0 ¼ ). Barrett's season-high 5-11, which she achieved at the Texas Relays, is second in the nation.

In 4A, Crowley's Ryan Green, who is tied for No. 3 in the state and the nation at 5-10, owns the top seed. The defending champion, Sherman's Alicia Peterson, is seeded No. 2 after posting 5-8 at the Region I meet.

Royse City's Skylar Strahm is seeded tied for third in 3A after posting a season-high 5-4 at the regional meet.
