Skyline senior Charachesicia Lockhart, seeded third at 40-2 ½ , is on track to make a run at El Paso Eastwood's Jessica Ubanyionwu, the defending 5A champion. Lockhart, who won Region II, finished seventh at state as a junior.

Arlington Sam Houston sophomore Alexius Hightower finished second to Ubanyionwu at the 5A Region I meet and is seeded fourth at 40-2 ¼ .

Birdville's Whitney Gipson, a TCU signee, was the 4A state runner-up last year. She'll compete in a packed 4A field that includes Beaumont Ozen's A'Lexus Brannon, Saginaw's Destiny Lumas, both of whom won medals last season, and Ambra McCuin, a Sam Houston State signee.

Forney's Jordan Wilson is coming on strong at the right time after posting a season-best 39-4 at the 4A Region II meet. She is seeded third in 4A.
