At state: 5A 200 champion (20.80); part of 5A champion 4x200 relay (1:25.23) and second-place 4x100 (40.48) relay About Henderson: His 200 run at state was No. 1 in the nation this season – and it occurred on a wet track. He signed with Texas Tech. Did you know? Henderson works on rental properties with his father. "I build cabinets and fix roofs and fences."
Kevin Hobson
ARLINGTON SEGUIN, SR.
At state: 4A 200 champion (20.96); second in 100 (10.56) About Hobson: He said his speed skyrocketed after recovery from a groin injury from playing football as a freshman. He signed with Houston. Did you know? Hobson got the track bug from watching his sister, Tieshia Hobson, a former athlete at FW O.D. Wyatt. "I used to go to my sister's track meets, and I'd want to go out there and run with her."
Kyle Clemons
ROWLETT, JR.
At state: 5A 400 champion (47.08); part of winning 4x100 relay (40.26) About Clemons: Moved from Jonesboro, Ark., last summer. Competed in first full track season. Did you know? "I'd like to major in engineering in college. I like doing stuff with electricity."
Patrick Todd
HIGHLAND PARK, SR.
At state: Won 4A 800 (1:55.14) About Todd: He edged 2007 5A champion Howard Shepard by .34 seconds in his come-from-behind victory. He signed with Texas. Did you know: Todd finished second at the 2007 state meet, which factored in his training. "I had '.04' written on my hand, which is the four-hundredths of a second that I lost by last year."
Sam Gagliano
WAXAHACHIE, SO.
At state: Second in 4A 110 hurdles (14.04); part of fourth-place 4x100 (41.55) and fifth-place 4x200 (1:26.49) relays. About Gagliano: Qualified for regionals in high jump, long jump, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and 4x100 relay. Bypassed chance to run 300 hurdles at state so he could contribute to 4x200 relay. Did you know? "I like to write poetry, really [for] stress relief."
Brandon Tucker
LEWISVILLE, SR.
At state: 5A champion in 110 hurdles (13.44) and 300 hurdles (36.38); part of second-place 4x100 (40.48). About Tucker: He initially signed with La.-Lafayette, but all 2008 signees were released from their commitment after the coach resigned. Signed with Texas Tech. Did you know? "I like being the center of attention. I like people to enjoy the environment when they're around me."
C.J. Brown
SOUTHLAKE CARROLL, JR.
At state: Fifth in 5A 1,600 (4:15.69); sixth in 3,200 (9:33.36). About Brown: Was second among area runners this season in both the 1,600 (4:15.69) and 3,200 (9:17.98), behind teammate Colby Lowe. Did you know? Brown works about 20 hours a week at a barbecue restaurant. "I've got to make gas money somehow."

SOUHLAKE CARROLL, SR.
At state: Repeat champion in 5A 1,600 (4:06.87), 3,200 (8:53.32) About Lowe: Finished high school with a two-year unbeaten streak in UIL competition in track and cross country. Signed with Oklahoma State. Did you know? "I always train with the Asics Nimbus, and I always race with the Nike Forever spikes."
Alex Adams
COLLEYVILLE COVENANT CHRISTIAN, SR.
At state: TAPPS 3A champion in shot put (62-3) and discus (177-5). About Adams: Threw a state-best 209-8 on March 1. Signed with Illinois State. Did you know? "I had a friend who got me some really bright socks, and I started wearing them at every track meet. They're lucky, so I'm going to wear them at all of my track meets in college."
Michael Carter Jr.
RED OAK, SR.
At state: 4A champion in shot put (61-1). About Carter: Was released from his scholarship at La.- Lafayette following the coach's resignation. Now being courted by Louisiana Tech, Kansas and Arkansas State. Did you know? He got into throwing after watching his sister, Michelle, do it, not because of his Olympian father, Michael Sr.
Toddrick Allen
PLANO EAST, JR.
At state: 5A high jump champion (6-10) About Allen: Receiver on football team, but expects track to be his ticket to college. Did you know? On clearing 5-8 on his first jump in eighth grade: "I just did it, and it was really easy. It felt natural."
Mike Brooks
IRVING MACARTHUR, JR.
At state: 5A runner-up in triple jump (47-9 ¾ ). About Brooks: He improved from a previous-best jump of 45-5 at the district meet to 47-9 ¾ at state. Expected to start at quarterback in fall. Did you know? Before shaving his hair two months ago, he had shoulder-length locks, which he had grown since seventh grade. "I just didn't want it anymore."
Grant Gunderson
ROCKWALL, JR.
At state: Third in 5A pole vault (15-6) About Gunderson: Has been vaulting since seventh grade. Defensive back in football. Did you know? "I actually have a fear of heights, but it doesn't bother me when I'm vaulting."
Kenith Roseman
TRINITY CHRISTIAN-CEDAR HILL, JR.
At state: Won TAPPS 4A long jump (22-5 ½ ), triple jump (47-5 ¼ ). About Roseman: Thrives off pressure of competing from behind. Honorable mention all-state kicker in football. First-team all-district forward in soccer. Did you know? "I text a lot, and the bill was like $200. I got in trouble for it, but I learned my lesson."
