Lewis, who will also serve as Roosevelt's boys track coach, comes over from Oliver Wendell Holmes Middle School, a Roosevelt feeder school where he served as football coach and athletic coordinator. Daniels said Thursday he's been on administrative leave since November after finishing his third season at Roosevelt. Assistant coach Robert Hall finished the school year as interim coach. Daniels and Johnson declined to comment on why Daniels had been placed on leave. Johnson said that the Dallas ISD's Office of Professional Responsibility investigated Daniels and recommended he be terminated. Daniels said he's been a DISD coach since 1978. Roosevelt finished 6-5 last season and lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Kaufman. Daniels was 21-14 in three seasons at Roosevelt. "I would definitely like for it to wrap up soon," Daniels said, "because I'd like to get on with what I do." |
