White football coach/AD sees return as a homecoming11:32 PM CDT on Monday, June 29, 2009Eric Ezar has returned to his Dallas ISD roots by recently taking over as the new head football coach and athletic coordinator at W.T. White. Ezar, the offensive coordinator at North Crowley the last four seasons, said "it's coming back home for me." Ezar, 37, graduated from W.T. White in 1990. He was a four-year letterman in baseball and two-year letterman in football. "I'm real excited," Ezar said. "This is a great opportunity for me." It is Ezar's first head coaching job. He also had varsity coaching stops at Fort Worth Brewer, Waxahachie and Hurst L.D. Bell. Ezar's father, Joel, also has a Dallas ISD background. Joel Ezar was an assistant football coach and boys track coach at Skyline for more than 30 years. He's best known for coaching Olympian and world record holder Michael Johnson at Skyline. Eric Ezar said though his focus is on football, he's committed to building a strong athletic program overall at W.T. White. "If you look around W.T. White, it's a really nice community, and a lot of the kids are going to private schools. I'm going to start a 'Why Not W.T. White' campaign," he said. |
