TOP STORIESCross country spotlight: Mansfield Timberview's Jim Stitt11:49 PM CDT on Wednesday, September 3, 2008
Jim Stitt, Mansfield Timberview, senior Update: Finished 8th at the Class 5A state meet last year. Notable: Stitt is involved in theater and is auditioning for a part in the school play, A Midsummer Night's Dream – if he can fit it into his running schedule. "My favorite guy would probably be Shakespeare, just his whole legacy." Memorable moment: Won the three-mile open race after the Greenhill Six-Mile Relays on Saturday. "I tripped on a hay bale in the middle of the race. I got back up and still won the race." Favorite movie: The Dark Knight because of Heath Ledger's performance. "I just can't believe he died. He was an amazing actor. He played The Joker so well." California ties: He is from Fremont, Calif., and moved to Texas when he was 10. "It was a little bit of a climate change. It took awhile to get used to the heat. That was tough in running." College plans: Undecided on major and school, but has talked to Missouri, Baylor and UT-San Antonio. "I haven't narrowed it down to any specific school." Matt Baker |
