TOP STORIES2-minute drill with South Garland's Nick Florence11:02 PM CDT on Thursday, November 1, 2007Nick Florence
South Garland, QB You're playing Garland this week. Is that South Garland's biggest rival? By far. Obviously it goes back to being the first two schools in Garland. Every year, Garland week is an interesting week of school and football. The attitude at practice is taken up another notch, and school during that week is crazy. On Thursday night, sentries stay at our school at night and guard the school. You're not going to be out trying to pull pranks, are you? No, I'm going to be in bed asleep. I'll let the other crazy people do that. You rank second in your class and have a weighted GPA, including AP courses, of 4.67. So, do you have to remember to use small words when you talk to your coaches? Oh no. I've probably learned to talk more like them than they've ever learned to talk like me. What do you want to do after football? I'm not sure. I've thought about engineering. I may want to be a youth pastor or something, so I don't know. You went on a church mission trip to Juarez, Mexico. What are your memories of that? Everything's so much more crowded down there. We helped the local church do stuff at their building, like paint. It's just a totally different atmosphere. There's a lot more poverty, but the people are really friendly. It's fun. You've committed to play for Baylor. With the changes they've had at quarterback this season, do you think you'll have a shot at playing time next year? There's always a chance, but I'm just going to go in and do whatever I need to do for the team. I'm always going to try to compete for that spot. Is your closet full of Baylor gear? I've got a few things. But I'll wait till I get down there and let them give me stuff rather than spend all my money on it. |
