TOP STORIESSkyline ends Carter's district win streak11:56 PM CDT on Thursday, November 1, 2007Thursday's game was supposed to be an intense battle between District 11-5A top dogs Skyline and Carter. It ended up being Troy Stoudermire's finest moment in a Skyline uniform. Stoudermire, a multi-talented quarterback, was nearly flawless in leading his team to a 35-0 victory at John E. Kincaide Stadium. The senior rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown, threw for 72 yards and a score and caught a 32-yard pass to set up another touchdown. Stoudermire's performance helped Skyline (8-1, 4-0) snap Carter's 33-game district winning streak. "He's a warrior. What more can you say?" Skyline coach Reginald Samples said. "He's got heart, and he's a warrior. I can't say enough about him." Stoudermire put Skyline on the board with a 43-yard touchdown run on its fourth play of the game. He finished with four runs of 12 yards or more. While Stoudermire shined on offense, Skyline's defense played one of its most dominant games of the season. The defense held Carter (4-5, 3-1) to 144 yards and seven first downs. Carter's nine possessions included five punts, a turnover on downs, a lost fumble, a blocked punt and an interception. "Carter's got a great team, but we're playing to shut teams out," Samples said. "We have a good defense. It's not a surprise to us, only a surprise to people who don't know Skyline." James White rushed for two touchdowns, and Jonathan Rivers caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Stoudermire. Domonique Patterson finished the scoring with a 2-yard TD run in the fourth. Carter quarterback Jarvis Phillips rushed for 74 yards on 20 attempts.
