Marcus is playing for at least a share of the District 6-5A title. Coppell is playing for pride. Marcus will chew up the clock with RB Stephen Hopkins and keep Coppell's potent offense on the sideline.

2.   Arlington Bowie at DeSoto

DeSoto is one of few teams in the area that can match Bowie's speed and athleticism. But Bowie's defense is too disciplined to be beat by a one-dimensional offense, no matter how explosive DeSoto QB Cyrus Gray is. Bowie will cap a perfect regular season with a hard-fought win.

3.   Frisco at Lake Dallas

Frisco showed great character by continuing to fight after a 1-3 start, reeling off five consecutive convincing wins to set up this District 9-4A championship game. Frisco is peaking at the right time. Lake Dallas hasn't looked good since early October.

4.   West Mesquite at Highland Park

The 10-4A title is on the line, but this is an easy pick for two simple reasons. First, Highland Park doesn't lose at Highlander Stadium. Second, Highland Park doesn't lose district games. Those trends won't end against a scrappy West Mesquite team.

5.   Ennis at Waxahachie

They just might tear down the goalposts at Lumpkin Stadium after Waxahachie ends a 10-game losing streak against its archrival. Waxahachie OLB Gary Mason and crew will see to it that Ennis enters the playoffs with a two-game losing streak.
