Elyse Burkert led the way with 14 kills and 16 digs, and Julie Olschwanger added 17 digs. Katie O'Brien finished with nine kills, two blocks and an ace. Stephanie Holland had six kills and two blocks. Excluding a warmup match against Lovejoy, Pearce, ranked No. 1 in 4A, haven't lost a game since early September. "We felt like we were playing well in district," coach Tanessa Sawyer said. "But it's nice to do this against other competition." Mansfield Legacy d. Birdville, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22: In Grand Prairie, Leslie Jackson finished with a team-high 13 kills and three blocks in the 4A Region I quarterfinal match. Shelby Murphy added 15 digs, Bekah Dorsey recorded 34 assists and Natalie Wahl had 11 kills. Red Oak d. Waco Midway, 25-22, 25-11, 25-18: In a 4A Region II quarterfinal at Hillsboro, Red Oak continued its postseason success, led by Andrea McQuaid, Hunter Porter and Jennifer Lawson. In three postseason matches, the Hawks haven't dropped a game. Lake Highlands d. Rowlett, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18: In a 5A Region II quarterfinal at Garland, Lake Highlands came from behind in the second game with crucial late points by Hollyn Adams and Caroline Henton. Lake Highlands, which made the state semifinals last season, has cruised in its three playoff matches. Denton Ryan d. Granbury, 13-25, 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 15-13: In Aledo, Hannah Marshall finished with nine kills and 25 assists in a 4A Region I quarterfinal. Chloe Tate added 12 kills, and Emily McCollum had 30 digs. Hebron d. Coppell, 25-14, 22-25, 25-17, 25-15: In a 5A Region I quarterfinal in Grapevine, Hebron defeated Coppell for the third time. Hebron, the District 6-5A champions, hasn't lost a match since Oct. 6. |
