SACHSE – Richardson Pearce advanced to the regional volleyball semifinals for the first time in three years with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-17 victory Tuesday night against Rockwall in a Class 4A Region II quarterfinal.

Pearce (38-7) was led by Elyse Burkert, who had 10 kills and 10 digs. Katie O'Brien added 11 kills and five aces, Stephanie Holland had 10 kills, and Julie Olschwanger had 18 digs.

"We had a goal of not letting them get any runs on us, and they didn't," Pearce coach Tanessa Sawyer said. "We did a good job of staying focused."

Plano West d. Southlake Carroll, 19-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-9: In Carrollton, Plano West rallied from a two-game hole to win in a 5A regional quarterfinal. Plano West (34-6) advances to the regional semifinals for the third straight year.

Megan Murphy had 42 assists and 11 digs for Plano West. Madie Jones added 22 kills, Michelle Harris 26 digs, Erin McNorton 17 digs, and Laura Jones 11 kills.

Plano East d. FM Marcus, 25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 16-25, 19-17: In The Colony, Mandie Freeman had 20 kills for Plano East, which won in a 5A regional quarterfinal. Alex Woolsey had 49 assists and Kyndra Gross added 13 digs for Plano East (29-14), which advances to the regional semifinals for the first time since 2002.

Highland Park d. Frisco Liberty, 25-18, 25-23, 25-20: In Irving, Katherine Culwell had 13 kills, 13 digs and two blocks to lead Highland Park (35-8) in its 4A regional quarterfinal victory. Laurel Pugliese (eight kills, nine digs), Tori Freeman (nine digs, four aces, 18 assists), Hannah Peterson (six kills, two blocks) and Caroline Culwell (nine digs) paced Highland Park.

Lovejoy d. Van, 25-16, 25-14, 25-16: In Rockwall, Natalie Puckett had 15 kills and eight digs, Andie Malloy had 12 kills, and Tyler Bradsher had 23 assists for Lovejoy (33-5) in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal.

Waco Midway d. Mesquite Poteet, 25-17, 25-9, 25-14: In Corsicana, Melissa Lusk had seven kills and Abby Arrietta added nine digs for Mesquite Poteet (21-17), which lost in a 4A regional quarterfinal.

Amarillo d. Arlington Martin, 25-19, 25-16, 12-25, 25-14: In Vernon, Whitney Walls had 11 kills for Arlington Martin (30-13) in its loss to the two-time defending state champs in a 5A regional quarterfinal.

A&M Consolidated d. Rowlett, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18: In Temple, A&M Consolidated ended Rowlett's deepest playoff run in school history in a 5A regional quarterfinal.
