Lawrence racked up 255 rushing yards, including touchdown runs of 64 and 58 yards, despite being pulled from the game midway through the third quarter. Wide receiver Everett Gilbert ran 15 times for 215 yards and two scores to help keep Rockwall-Heath undefeated. After quarterback Jake Sherrington hit Brice Johnson for a 70-yard touchdown pass to pull Hillcrest within two points midway through the second quarter, Rockwall-Heath¹s runners took over, scampering for three touchdowns in the final six minutes of the first half. Lawrence ended the half by flying over a pile of linemen for a 1-yard score that put Rockwall-Heath up 44-21 at halftime. Rockwall-Heath's defense held Hillcrest scoreless in the second half, holding its opponents to 128 total yards in the second half after allowing 253 yards in the first. Sherrington threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Johnson, to pace Hillcrest. |
