TOP STORIES2-minute drill with Skyline's Spencer Reeves10:20 PM CST on Thursday, December 6, 2007
Spencer Reeves, LB, Skyline Are you as mean as you look out there on the field? Oh, no. I get that a whole lot. Everybody tells me that. My teammates know when I'm on the field, I mean business. But off the field, I'm kind of cool. I'm kind of a quiet guy. What do you do to get pumped up before a game? My thing is, the morning of the game, when I wake up I put music on to get me going. When there's no music, I just stay to myself and be quiet. Is it hard to concentrate in class the day of a game? The teacher will be giving us work and I'll be like, oh man, I don't want to do this. I'll be looking at the clock every five minutes. Especially if it's a big game. You've orally committed to Minnesota. You know it gets cold up there, right? I know it, man. That was one of the things I was worried about, it being cold. But that's not going to be a big factor because everything else [about Minnesota] works so well. The coaches really made me feel like they really, really wanted me. I never really got that from any other coaches. Do you have a heavy coat? As soon as football season's over, I'm hitting the stores. I'm going to get some jackets, some long pants. I'm not going to need any shorts. Too bad Hawaii didn't recruit you. I'd take a trip to Hawaii, but I don't like flying over that water, man. What's the best hit you've had this season? I had a good hit against the quarterback in the Rowlett game. He was running toward the sideline and acted like he was going to go out of bounds, but he spun back in and I lowered my shoulder into him. When you hit somebody hard, can you hear the breath go out of him? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Keith Whitmire |
