El Paso Eastwood was awarded a forfeit victory over Sunset in a consolation game early Friday at Forester Field House when Sunset did not show up because of miscommunication with a bus company.

Dallas ISD assistant athletic director Goree Johnson said he was informed at about 8:45 a.m., 15 minutes before the scheduled 9 a.m. tipoff, that the team could not get to the field house.

Sunset coach Khalid Ross could not be reached for comment.

Johnson said Eastwood will be compensated with a makeup game against Samuell at 9:30 a.m. today at Ellis Davis Field House. The game will not be included in the tournament record but will count as a nondistrict game.

"They came all this way, and they want to play," Johnson said. "We want to do what we can for them," Johnson said.
