Southlake Carroll regained the top spot after Plano West snapped its six-year winning streak last year. It is the seventh time Carroll has won, including two in Class 4A.

■ The girls cross country team was awarded its third state title in a row, two days after the meet. Carroll protested Kingwood's win after it was determined that a timing chip error affected the point calculation in the team standings.

■ The girls soccer team recorded a state-record 24 shutouts and won its first state title, defeating Plano East, 2-1.

■ A strong second-round vaulted the girls golf team to the state title, six shots better than second-place Lubbock Coronado.

■ The boys cross country team was second at state.
