Skyline held Horn (14-5) to its lowest point total of the season. Horn's previous low was 53 points against Samuell on Dec. 7. "We're just basic fundamentals," said Skyline coach J.D. Mayo, who's in his 32nd season. "We try to protect the basket, rebound and get a shot on occasion. We don't even have a true post player." Skyline will face Kimball in today's tournament championship game. Kimball beat Highland Park, 56-40, in the first semifinal. Horn will play Highland Park for third place. Williams, a Stephen F. Austin signee, finished with 16 points and seven rebounds despite competing against his best friend, 6-8 center Quincy Acy, and 6-4 Texas State signee John Bowman. Acy finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks, and Bowman added eight points and four boards. "It's always fun playing against Quincy," Williams said, "but we had to take him away from the game and make someone else beat us. We're friends, but when we play against each other, we're enemies." Skyline outscored Horn, 14-9, in the fourth quarter after leading by two at the end of the third. Skyline's Da'Jon McKnight scored six of his game-high 17 points in the final period. Skyline earned the right to play in the semifinal earlier in the day by edging Plano East, 53-52. Cameron Miles sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Skyline the win. Guard trio spurs Kimball: The guard trio of London Giles, David Kyles and Darian Thibodeaux led Kimball (12-6), which landed a spot in the tournament final. The three combined for 38 points in Kimball's 56-40 quarterfinal win against DeSoto Friday afternoon. Kimball led by as many as 22 points against DeSoto. Kimball's semifinal contest against Highland Park featured Giles and Thibodeaux in a shooting exhibition. Kimball drained 10 3-pointers in the first half. Giles and Thibodeaux hit eight of the 10. Giles had 20 points, and Thibodeaux added 15. Both players finished with five 3-pointers. Highland Park (15-3) trimmed a 13-point lead to two early in the fourth quarter, but Kyles scored nine of his game-high 21 points in the quarter to help Kimball pull away. Briefly: Carter's defensive pressure was too much in an 82-50 consolation-semifinal win against Woodrow Wilson. Carter led, 47-23, at the half and consistently transformed turnovers into fast-break opportunities. Jarred Shaw had 17 points for Carter, which will play Richardson Berkner in the consolation final.
