Cross country spotlight: Philip Todd, Highland Park, Jr. Todd took first place at the District 10-4A championship meet, running a 16:40 and leading the Scots to a first-place team finish as well. On Saturday, Highland Park races at the regional meet in Arlington.

Lake Dallas runner hopes miracle miles lead to state meet Last Friday, at the District 5-4A cross country meet, Taylor Lively won. He does that a lot. His ultiamte dream is to make it to the state tournament and he won't let cystic fibrosis get in his way.

Adamson, Skyline cross country programs compete despite disadvantages In a sport that's a tough sell even at the dominant suburban schools, Dallas ISD cross country teams face greater obstacles with leaner budgets, less-organized youth events and the lack of the running lifestyle that's cultivated in the suburbs. Some schools can't field a complete team. Others, such as Adamson and, recently, Skyline, are finding ways to compete.
Cross Country spotlight: Coppell's Kaleigh Ervin Ervin will run in the District 6-5A meet Friday. In her last meet, two weeks ago at the Haltom Stampede, she ran an 11:35 2-mile, finishing fourth.

Cross country spotlight: Chandler Crumblish, Shelton, freshman Crumblish won the individual TAPPS 3A state title Saturday, running a 12:58. She took the lead toward the end of the race and won by 11 seconds.
