GARLAND – Quarteback Konner Joplin completed four of his first 5 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown to lead Coppell to a season-opening win over South Garland at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

Evans Okotcha carried the ball on Coppell's first three plays from scrimmage, gaining 40 yards and capping it with a 2-yard touchdown plunge.

Jordan Tollett returned a punt 90 yards for a score as Coppell built a 27-7 lead in the second quarter.

Justin Lockett scored for South Garland in the first quarter on an 82-yard pass form Damien Gomez.
