CELINA – Jose Romero rushed for 164 yards with three touchdowns, and Troy McCartney threw, caught, and ran for a score, as Celina (5-3, 2-1) amassed 551 yards and defeated Gainesville (2-6, 0-3) for the school's 500th win in a District 9-3A game.

McCartney, who had 205 total yards, threw an 85-yard touchdown pass to Austin Carey, caught a 17-yard score from Cody Worrell, and ran for a 42-yard score. Romero had a 28-yard touchdown run, as Celina led, 27-0, after one quarter. Brad Dahl and Sawyer Levit each had a fumble recovery in the first quarter to start a scoring drive for Celina, which was penalized seven times for 55 yards in the opening period.

Celina led, 41-7, at halftime after Andy James caught a 48-yard scoring pass from Ryan Merritt, who also recorded a 42-yard punt. Celina, which held Gainesville to 96 total yards, allowed minus-17 rushing yards by Gainesville in the first half.
