ARLINGTON — Arlington Bowie, No. 8 in the SportsDay's Class 5A area rankings, scored on all three of its first-quarter possessions and cruised to victory in the District 4-5A opener of both teams.

Bowie's scoring drives lasted four plays, two plays, and nine plays as quarterback Christian Matthews was 5-for-5 passing in the quarter. He finished the game 13-of-19 for 241 yards and two touchdowns. Bowie improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district play.

Martin (0-5, 0-1) avoided the shutout by scoring in the opening moments of the fourth quarter. Prior to that, Martin only had 86 yards total offense.
