Defending champion Colby Lowe of Southlake Carroll will go for his second consecutive distance "triple crown." Lowe, an Oklahoma State signee, won the state cross country meet in November and is seeded first in the 1,600 and the 3,200. His top outdoor time in the 1,600 is 4:10.36.

In 4A, Pinkston senior Pinya Issa is a four-time district champion and is back at state for the first time since his sophomore season, when he finished sixth. Frisco Centennial senior Cole Reveal, a UT-San Antonio signee, ran his best time of the season, 4:23.07, at the 4A Region II meet.

Argyle teammates Stephen Curry (4:27.03) and Blake Woolums (4:27.92) are seeded second and third in 3A.
